What We Do
EPIC provides members with a forum of fellow professionals
for mutual support or advice on a wide range of issues affecting
the security industry today.
What makes EPIC different?
THE PROFESSIONAL ELEMENT
There are other professional security associations but
EPIC is different in that the members have a common background
of integrity with a unique wealth of experience. This enables
a ready source of expertise and advice to be available to
industry and commerce.
Where are EPIC members working?
SOME HAVE FORMED THEIR OWN BUSINESSES AND OTHERS ADVISE
UK COMPANIES AND MULTI-NATIONALS
Many members have attained additional qualifications in
Security since leaving the Police service. Members of Epic
are now in some of the most senior posts as, for example,
Group Security Advisers, Security Controllers, Directors
and Security Managers. Many of the largest and best known
UK companies and multi-nationals are represented in EPIC.
Additionally, many members are self employed, providing
advisory and investigative service to industry and commerce.
How do EPIC members keep up-to-date with industry trends?
NATIONAL SEMINARS
Members exchange ideas, problems and solutions at quarterly
seminars held throughout the UK. Recent coverage has been
given, for example, to the Data Protection Act, the Regulation
of the Security Industry Act, Computer Security, CCTV and
Alarm Systems, Kidnapping and Terrorism, Security Recruiting,
British Standards in Security, Confidentiality and Privacy
Issues (Bugging) in Industry and Commerce, Communications
Security, Vehicles Security, Forensic Science and Handwriting
Services.
Professional Seminars
EPIC meetings are held quarterly in various parts
of the UK and all members are provided with an Agenda in
advance and full details of meetings afterwards in the form
of minutes, speakers' notes and brochures etc.
At meetings it is usual to engage quality speakers and
to arrange presentations on various aspects of security.
Time is made available for individual contributions and
the airing of common problems and developments - new members
are made to feel welcome.
One meeting each year is combined with a social weekend
to which relatives and friends are welcome.
