EPIC is a substantial and highly reputable professional association for ex-police officers working in industry and commerce - with a current membership in excess of 450. EPIC provides members with a forum of fellow professionals for mutual support or advice on a wide range of issues affecting the security industry today.

All police forces in the UK are represented in EPIC which welcomes retired officers of all ranks.

Why Join EPIC?

There are other professional security associations but EPIC is different in that the members have a common background of integrity with a unique wealth of experience. This enables a ready source of information and guidance to be available to industry and commerce.

Many members have attained additional qualifications in Security since leaving the Police service. Members of Epic are now in some of the most senior posts as, for example, Group Security Advisers, Security Controllers, Directors and Security Managers. Many of the largest and best known UK companies and multi-nationals are represented in EPIC. Additionally, many members are self employed, providing advisory and investigative service to industry and commerce.

With a well established reputation EPIC is now respected by Government, other industrial and commercial Associations and the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO). Members are included on commissions, enquiries and working parties engaged in examining developments in the security industry. the views of the EPIC membership are sought in the planning of new legislation and other fundamental issues.

Who is eligible for membership?

To qualify for membership of the Association the applicant must:

  • be currently engaged in industry or commerce in the sphere of security;
  • have formerly been a member of Her Majesty's Police service in the United Kingdom and thus have served in a Police Force commonly referred to as "a Home Office Police Force" (England and Wales) or a Scottish Office Force (Scotland) or the Police Service of Northern Ireland;
  • be in the receipt of, or qualified for a police pension, having completed 25 years or more service.
